AIM: Antisepsis for Infants and Moms
Maternal sepsis is a severe and life-threatening disease that can occur throughout the reproductive period. This mHealth solution provides daily self-maternal sepsis monitoring from the beginning of gestation to postpartum.

AIM: Antisepsis for Infants and Moms
Maternal sepsis is a severe and life-threatening disease that can occur throughout the reproductive period. Approximately 10.7% of all global maternal deaths are caused by maternal sepsis. In the U.S., 23% of maternal deaths are related to sepsis.
Early diagnosis and timely treatment are critical. Current sepsis recognition methods are mainly bedside assessment tools designed for clinical settings such as hospitals or labs. Particularly for high-risk patients, there is a lack of solutions to continuously monitor and evaluate their health condition, specifically for signs of maternal sepsis in daily life.
This project was a hackathon solution submitted by Team AI4Purpose. We developed an mHealth solution for daily self–maternal sepsis monitoring. It aims to provide a data-driven and user-centered mobile health application to monitor maternal sepsis risks from the beginning of gestation to postpartum. The solution assists patients with self-monitoring, enables better maternal sepsis–related health management, and facilitates communication with doctors through retrievable digital health records.
